Our Drama and Literacy Holiday Camp takes place at a prestigious independent school or university in South East England, offering easy access to both London and Oxford. Designed for students aged 11 to 16, our unique programme provides an engaging way to learn English through interactive drama and speech activities, which are leaded by highly experienced and qualified teachers. Students will also explore a variety of English literature, enriching their overall learning experience. Our holiday camps are designed to be fully tailored to the needs of schools and students, ensuring an enriching and engaging experience that aligns with their interests and learning objectives. Whether the focus is on academic enrichment, cultural exploration, leadership development, or outdoor adventure, we customize every aspect of the program to suit the specific requirements of each group. By working closely with schools, we ensure that activities are age-appropriate, educationally valuable, and aligned with students’ abilities and aspirations. This personalized approach allows students to gain new skills, build confidence, and create lasting memories in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Curriculum

The holiday camp will include lessons (15 hrs) of the following topics

Students will develop a deeper understanding of poetry by identifying the author’s thesis and meaning, analyzing rhyme schemes, and exploring language and style. They will study different genres of poetry, examine historical and cultural contexts, and practice reading poems aloud to enhance their interpretation and delivery.

This module focuses on essential performance skills, including voice training, body movement, and facial expression. Students will learn acting techniques, engage in improvisation exercises, and study both classical and contemporary scenes. They will develop confidence in stage presence while refining their dramatic expression and storytelling abilities.

Students will analyze English literature from a dramatic perspective, studying different literary eras and their defining characteristics. They will explore how texts can be interpreted in performance, examine character development and symbolism, and practice analyzing literary works in depth. This module also includes an introduction to stylistic elements such as metaphor, symbolism, and imagery.

This section helps students refine their writing skills by focusing on story structure, character development, and narrative techniques. They will study effective storytelling methods, learn the art of brevity, and experiment with different forms and structures. Emphasis is placed on narration, dialogue, and crafting compelling beginnings and endings.

Exciting excursions

As part of the holiday camp experience, students will embark on exciting excursions to some of the UK’s most iconic destinations. They will explore the historic university cities of Oxford and Cambridge, where they can walk in the footsteps of great scholars, visit renowned colleges, and immerse themselves in the rich academic heritage of these world-famous institutions. In London, students will enjoy sightseeing tours that showcase the city’s most famous landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, the Tower of London, and more. These excursions serve as examples of the enriching experiences available, and the itinerary can be tailored to suit the specific interests and needs of each group. Whether focusing on history, culture, or academic inspiration, we ensure that every excursion provides a perfect balance of education and adventure.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided at prestigious independent boarding schools or university campuses, offering a secure and inspiring environment for learning and personal growth. All students stay in purpose-built accommodation, with the option of shared dormitories or private rooms. Dormitories typically house four to six students. Designated space is available for storing personal belongings.

Staff are available on-site 24/7 to provide support and ensure student well-being. Boys and girls are accommodated in separate houses. Spacious communal area and garden are available where students can relax, socialize, and enjoy activities during their free time.
